Hotel Arenal Montechiari - La Fortuna

The setting of the hotel is great, very close to a railway station, the rainforest, and lovely gardens teeming with wildlife. the rooms are beautifully maintained with comfortable beds and smoke detectors. the hotel is conveniently located near the cool Kiwi Caffe Gelato, offering delicious desserts.

No good value for money.With bad weater the place is awfully cold.

The grounds, the breakfast, the cleanliness and the owners. The grounds were beautiful. Beautiful gardens- flowers and sculptured boxwood. A great place to walk around. You had a great view of Arenal Volcano from the grounds The breakfast was served quickly and was really tasty. Coffee was great. The cabins were clean and very quiet. The grounds and the dining area were neat and pristine. The owners were friendly and helpful. They are building more cabins and a swim up bar. I will go back to enjoy the facilities.

We had a fantastic stay at Montechiari. The little houses were clean and charming, with a cozy porch for relaxing. The breakfast was delicious, especially the local fruits and made-to-order eggs. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the center. I highly recommend this hotel for a great stay in Fortuna.

A friend of mine and I stayed at the hotel Montechiari for two nights. It was the best stay of our entire trip. The staff, Daisy and Abby were very nice and very helpful. Booked all the tours for us and arranged taxis when we needed them. The cabins are basic but have everything that you need & very quiet - the grounds were extremely well maintained, landscaping was beautiful. They had a roaming security guard walking around for the entire night keeping an eye on things. The breakfast was the best breaky we had during our trip, very tasty and fast. Coffee was excellent. Great view of the volcano on a clear day.

The only very minor thing that was irritating is that the lighting in the cabins was not the best, impossible for the girls to do make-up when it was dark!

YBeautiful quiet location just a minute or two walk from la fortuna. Clean rooms, well laid out relaxing cabins with a great view of the volcano when it wasn't shrouded in cloud. Friendly and keen to help staff.

Staff could be a little chaotic, but always with best intentions....

Booked a room with magnificent views. the staff were really helpful and knowledgeable people, especially the female receptionist. - the bed was comfortable. - the location was absolutely perfect, close enough to sightseeing. - Beautiful garden on the property. - Don Rufino's in town is nearby. - Kiwi Caffe Gelato serving pastries is a nice find at a moderate distance from the hotel.

The garden was very nice.pool very nice.very quiet. 15 Minutes walk from lafortunal village.

They speak only Spanish.Breakfast not good(typical) I did boock with a Frig and cofee maker.nothing of that, i did ask for it but not a word of english.. finely got it later,after o lot of effort.no hot water.system with the sun. No sun,no hot water......

The hotel was exceptionally comfortable with great views and an amazing location amidst beautiful gardens. Location: the property was close to the grounds, La Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano area, and La Fortuna downtown. Went to Nanku Restaurant for drink or two, set at a moderate distance from the hotel.

Great location with stunning views of the volcano. the hotel is just a short walk from the lively town center, making it convenient for exploring and dining. the well-maintained gardens and pleasant pool added to the overall charm of the place. the breakfast provided a great variety of local and North American dishes, ensuring a satisfying start to the day.

One minor inconvenience was the towel usage. the room staff would create towel sculptures with fresh towels, instead of reusing the ones we had hardly used the day before.

Calm, pool, 400 m from downtown

Breakfast & staff were great, limited English spoken at times. The cabin set up, size & landscaping were very good. Cleanliness.

The howling / barking dogs on neighboring properties was a real problem. The lighting in the cabins was very poor. Better lighting is required. If the TV's, soap, towels, bedding (particularly the pillows) were improved the hotel would definitely be a higher standard in the ratings. Similarly, the chairs around the pool should be improved. The new pool and cabins will improve the experience. Gaps between the cabin boards (at the bases) should be sealed.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The hotel facilities were clean and the pool was perfect for a refreshing swim. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast every morning with a fine view of the surrounding landscape. The location of the hotel was close enough to walk to the town center, where we were able to find plenty of transportation options for exploring the area.

Though it might help to invest in a more comfortable mattress and pillows.
